HE WAS brilliant and deeply disturbed. In the dying days of flower power, in 1969, a number of experts now believe Penn State Phd. Rick Haefner went into a university library and stabbed to death Betsy Aardsma, 19, a freshman from Holland, Michigan. For four decades the case has remained cold but two authors are fingering Haefner--now dead--as the killer. And his nephew is backing them up. Above is a clip on the case from 2008. Here is the link from the Lancaster New-Era on the latest developments. NEPHEW, OTHERS FINGER HAEFNER IN MURDER

COPS HOPE DNA IDs 1969 JANE DOE MURDER VICTIM
COPS IN Washington State have exhumed the remains of a woman found murdered in 1969 in the hope her DNA could crack two cold cases. King County detectives say the bodies of two women were found on a rural road. On June 5, 1969, Jane Doe's decomposed body was found off a dirt road a mile west of the Tolt River Bridge in east King County. Cops named the unidentified murder victim “Tolt Hill Jane Doe.”
A portion of a skull from a second victim--a young adult female--was found in 2006 about three blocks from where Jane Doe's lifeless body was found. The second victim has also never been identified. Now, cold case cops suspect the two slayings may be linked.
Sgt. John Urquhart said: “They hope to first find out who the person was, then find her killer."

AMAZING BUST IN 1957 'PRETTY MARIA' RIDULPH MURDER
COPS have made an astonishing arrest in a murder case which is more than 50-years old. Back in December 1957 Maria Ridulph was playing with a friend outside her Sycamore, IL home when a young man walked up and introduce himself as "Johnny". She accepted piggyback rides from the mysterious stranger and her friend left her, playing with the mysterious stranger. It was the last time the girl dubbed "Pretty Maria" by newspapers at the time, would be seen alive. For the next five months, almost the entire 7000-strong community, searched alongside FBI agents for the girl and then in April 1958, Maria’s decomposed remains turned up beneath an oak tree near Galena.
Now more than half-a-century later Jack Daniel McCullough, now 71
